What does vga output mean?

Can i use my Motherboard VGA output as well as my VGA Output on my graphics card?

  • I have a GeForce GT520 graphics card and i'm using the VGA output on there as i don't have a HDMI monitor. I have a 2nd monitor which is also a VGA input that i would like to use if i can. I was wondering if i could use the motherboard VGA output as well as the graphics card VGA. Many thanks

  • Answer:

No. However, if your GT520 has a DVI as well as a VGA connector, you could buy a DVI to VGA cable or adapter, and use that. If it only has HDMI, though, you're stuck unless you were to buy another card. There's no such thing as a HDMI to VGA adapter, as (unlike DVI) the HDMI connector doesn't physically carry the analog VGA signals from the card.

You can't use both at the same time unfortunately, you need to get a Graphics card with 2 VGA outputs, or one with DVI and VGA and use a DVI to VGA connector.

Does the card have DVI port (most do) get an adapter to make the DVI a VGA and connect the 2nd monitor that way. or. check to see if your monitor has a DVI connector and connect to the video card that way.
