How does my Dell Camera work?

Webcam and Microphone won't work on laptop?

  • I have a Dell XPS 15 laptop. I use skype regularly with my boyfriend and everything usually works fine. Sometimes though, if I go on Dell Webcam Central it will say 'No Supported Webcam Connected'. I'm not sure why it does this but it is usually fixed by just turning off my laptop, unplugging earphones charger etc. and leaving it for about 20 seconds then turning it back on again. However, earlier today I went on skype to see my boyfriend before he leaves for boarding school again, and my camera wouldn't work. It didn't even give me the option of turning my camera on, on the black bar thing where you can adjust your microphone, share screen etc, the camera icon just wasn't there. So i opened up Dell Webcam Central and it said 'No Supported Webcam Connected'. So I did as I usually do in this situation, but it wouldn't work. I must have done it about 10 times but nothing happened! I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Dell Webcam Central, nothing. I tried troubleshooting audio recording but it said there was nothing wrong. I tried checking for updates, but there wasn't anything to update. I am so annoyed and don't have a clue what to do, so somebody please help! Cheers in advance x

Hey Amy, I looked around and found some potential solutions: 1 - Turn of the laptop. Unplug the charger if plugged in. Take the battery out, leave for 5 minutes and put back in. Turn back on and the webcam should be connected. * I can not grantee work since this was sourced from a forum. 2 - Uninstall the Turbo Boost Monitor chipset and the webcam drivers. Restart and reinstall the webcam driver. restart again and it should work. * I can not grantee for the same reason as before. Those where the solutions i could find. Personally i would suggest is to uninstall the webcam driver and the Webcam Central restart and search for the laptops webcam driver on the dell website and install that. See if it works? If not then install the Webcam Central and try again. For the last option is to contact Dell. This is all that i can suggest without seeing the PC myself. Good luck, Johnathan
