Missing MSVCR71.dll from computer?

I have asked this question once but the answers were unclear: When I try to run a program I have downloaded, a message pops up and says, "The program can't start because MSVCR71.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program t fix this problem." I don't want to download this file from some website and I don't want to copy/move the file because I have been told I can run into problems. I remember reading something about editing the pathway? How do I do this and will it work? Will I run into problems? When I search my Program Files (x86) I see that there are 3 msvcr71.dll files: 1.) msvcr71.dll; C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin 2.) msvcr71.dll; C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\plugin2 3.) MSVCR71.DLL; C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\ADDINS

Honestly, You already have a problem, Computers have become extremely user friendly and most of the time they're right about something thats wrong with the program, depending on where you got this program from, or if you installed it as administrator, or anything could be a problem, usually when dll files are missing it didn't install correctly most of the time due to failing to run as admin, try uninstalling and reinstalling under admin rights, Right click>run setup.exe under admin. If you've done that then you may want to try and find somewhere else to get whatever your program is.
