Pages 2007 for mac page numbering?

How do I get Word 2007 for Mac to skip a page when auto numbering pages?

  • I want to put a table of contents at the start of my report but I don't want it to be numbered. I want page 1 to be the second page in the document. Normally, I'd just make two separate documents and print it like that but I have to turn it in to my professor as one document.

  • Answer:

To have different page numbering sections within the same document, you need to divide the document into sections first. You do this by inserting a Section Break on the last page of a section, which resembles inserting a page break. First, enable the option to Show Nonprinting Characters (click '¶' in the top button bar). Then, in your example, go to the end of the last line of the first page and choose Insert > Break > Section Break (Next Page) Voilà, now you can insert or change the page numbering for each section independently of each other.
