How to email a file full of sub files?

For online college, I have to email a huge file full of sub files. My teacher wants them all in one big file, so I can't send them separately. When I try to attach the main file, I click on it and it says 'open,' and then I click that and it takes me to look at the sub files. How can I attach just the main folder with all the sub files?
