What is a good 3D animation program?

  • I'm a media student, I originally enrolled on my course because I wanted to one day become a DP. But since then I've found I'm really good at animation (well compared to my classmates). I believe I have a good understanding of 2D and 2.5D animation and am proficient in Motion and After Effects. So now i'm wanting to push myself with 3D animation. I'm looking for a program that ideally has modeling, animation obviously and rendering also something not to dissimilar to any industry standard so I could make the jump. Does not have to be one program though as long as they work together well. I'd like it to also have a mocap facility ideally but its not required. I have a mac and need the software to run on it so no Windows only options please!

    The best 3D program for motion graphics animation is Maxon Cinema 4D. It also integrates very well with After Effects.
