Does Blackberry Messenger work without the Blackberry plan?

Is there anyway I can use 'kik messenger' on my blackberry 8520 without wifi?

• I have recently downloaded 'kik messenger' on my blackberry 8520 and at first it didn't work. I got advised to download it when I was connected to wifi and it worked! But when I disconnect or leave the house, it doesn't let me send messages because I'm not connected to wifi, I am on a unlimited internet plan. So is there any setting I need to change or anything?   thanks u too i have it on my bold and it works well wether on wifi or my internet for you i would try some of the following go to mobile network connections/options and click data services on go to mobile network connections and click were it says connection preferd select any of them except wifi only i have selected wifi preferably also try selecting automatic network selection mod not manual hope this helped
