Can you send an email as a text to a phone?

I want to add some pictures to my phone to use as backgrounds, can I send a email as a text to my phone and not as an email? I can't use data.

Answer:
Technically you can, but when you download the photo onto your phone that uses web. An easier solution is to hook your phone, or memory card into your computer. Look for the dcim folder, that's where pics are stored.
