How can I set up my cable box?

How to set up a cable box to your tv?

  • I got a new cable box from cox! But before I was using regular cable. And now I don't know how to set it up?! I put everything in the right slot like...cable in and cable out...I took the cable cord outlet from the wall and put it in the cable box slot (cable in) Than I took the other one and put it cable out into my tv? It still says no signal!! Its a vizio and its the new updated cable box please help!!!

  • Answer:

Your answer depends on what type of service you have and what type of box you got from Cox Cable. If it's a small converter with only two coaxial jacks on the back, you probably need to have Cox initialize it (if you haven't already). If you have, you need to put your TV on channel 3 and leave it there permanently. Change channels only on the cable box. If you have some other type of box, the coaxial antenna connection you have to your TV is a poor choice. The suggestion in Tex's answer would be far better. If none of this helps, you need to call Cox customer service and have them solve it for you. It shouldn't be difficult.

If you upgraded your cable box to an HD cable box, then you should get an HDMI cable and attach the box to your tv with that, not the regular coax cable. Coax will give you a bad picture. Then when you connect your cable box to your tv, go to the input or source button on the tv remote and press it till you get to the input where it's plugged in. HDMI1 probably.
