How much is this camera worth?

How much is a canon eos 20d worth? Is it a good deal to sale and get a different camera instead?

  • So, one of my relatives recently found a Canon Eos 20d. Knowing that I've wanted a canon camera for so long, she gave it to me for free. I know it's a good camera but it seems to old for me and rather have a newer one with an actual memory card rather than the big compact flash card. But I was wondering how much is it worth? It's a canon eos 20 d with a 17-85 mm lense. I was thinking of selling it and with the money I receive i was planning to get a canon rebel t2i or canon rebel t3i. I guess all I really wanna know is how much is this camera worth overall and if the t2i/t3i is a better camera? Please help! I'm just trying to find the camera that is right for me.

    Spend the next year or so leaning how to use that fine camera you have. It will take at least that long before you could see a difference in your photos when using it or a new dSLR Buying a new one will NOT guarantee that your photos will be any better and the one you have now. Do NOT sell the 17-85 mm lens. That is a $800 lens and you should keep it whether you do buy a newer camera or not

The 20D is an older model but that doesn't mean it's not a good camera because it is. Also don't get confused, Compact Flash is just another style of memory card... I have a camera that uses CF and it works just fine. Given the camera's age and possible shutter count you won't get much for it. One important thing you can do is see if a professional photo shop can access the shutter count - it's like mileage on a car. Important thing to know before even thinking of selling it.

WOW! You want to get rid of THIS ? I wish I had relatives like that ! This is a VERY nice piece of kit, without stupid frivolities like live view and video, and the lens is an absolute legend. You want to turn this in for a toy ? Don't be thick. Grab it with both hands and learn to get the best out of it, you won't regret it.
