Is it awkward to go to prom when everyone in your group has a date except for you?

• I mean, these last 4 years of high school basically sucked for you... I was depressed the first two years. Junior year was ok. Senior year I basically ditched all of my friends because they were really insensitive and didn't realize how crappy they treated me. My whole prom group all has dates except for me. I mean, I don't mind going without a date but I feel like it would be really awkward within my group when everyone but me has someone to go with. I don't even mind going with another girl that also doesn't have a date (as friends though) but everyone I asked already has a group or isn't even going to prom. A couple people already said that I should just go because nobody really stays in their group anyway once they get their. I didn't make any real friends and High school kind of sucked for me and I was contemplating about not even going to prom but I just want to go because I want to wear a nice dress. Honestly, when will I ever have a another time to wear a big poofy fancy dress. But then again, I don't want to waste so much money on bad night.

  There is NO problem going single. I went single and it was fun! For me, prom is sort of pointless, but if you do want to go, go with a group of friends because mostly when you get to the place where the prom is held, they will split up into groups and you can hang with your friends and their dates might go do something else. Just go to prom with a group of friends and have fun. I was the only one my our limo without a date and it was perfectly fine, I met some people on the dance floor we just danced freely. But it really isn't worth it though. If you have other friends who are going single you can meet up with them there and have fun, if some people ditch their dates, you can hang out with them. If dancing is for you, then go. Your four years of high school sound just like mine. I know how you feel... For me, I went one year and found that it wasn't worth the money and didn't go the second year. Also, you will be able to have another chance to wear a big poofy dress during college, that is if your college hosts a prom or a ball.
