How will I move my belongings across the country?

  • I'm moving from Oklahoma to Alaska and I'm not quite sure how I'm going to move my stuff. I don't have very much as far as luggage goes: just a lot of clothes, a few boxes, and maybe two or three suitcases of stuff. I could fit that stuff in a car. But, I also have a couple shelves and a futon. I obviously can't fly this stuff over. Is there a (cheap! I'm broke haha) way to transport all this stuff by car? I am planning on driving. Uhaul is very expensive lol.

    Did you know that we have stores up here? You could sell all your stuff then buy what you need up here. You could mail your stuff using parcel post..it will take about a month but it is cheap. Here is a secret about moving companies. They will take your stuff and store it in their warehouse. When they have a truck going to your destination they will pack your stuff in a truck that has room then deliver it to you. The important factor here is time. If time is not a problem for you...try this as it is very cheap! I did it and was very happy with the cost and service. Welcome to Alaska!

have you ever seen the pods commercial? they bring a small storage container, like on a semi, to you, you pack what you want in, then they take it where you want it whether it be a different location or storage. check that out. Otherwise, it will prob either need to be sold and replaced, or shipped, or Uhaul. unless you have a friend with a large enough pick up to fit it that can help you.

Put as much stuff into your car as possible. For the rest, call an interstate moving company. Also call Fed Ex, DHL, UPS for their rates. You can ship ground. It doesn't have to be air.
