Oh man, there are beaches everywhere. its an island, the best surfing beaches are located in the Uluwatu area on the same peninsula as Nusa Dua. Easy to find and great waves. You do not have to worry about sharks. I have yet to see one other than when I was diving and I have been going there for many years. Basic kick back beaches are every where, from the heavily touristed area of Kuta/Legian/Seminyak, (also sand bar beach breaks here) to places like Blue Lagoon at Padang Bai and White Sand Beach out past Candidassa. The Gili islands are my favorite, some small waves and great diving but you have three islands here with nothing but great beaches. Jimbasran, Balagnan, Nusa Lembognan. I can just go on and on. As far as renting a bike... about $5 a day and they are pretty easy about it but I am much older and hold licenses from many places in the world so no problem for me... The question. Do you have a license of any kind? If you do get a International license on line or from AAA in the states. In order to get one you need to have an existing license. The Balinese police do tourist stops and if you don't have and international license they will fine you but usually let you go ahead after paying the fine. I have no doubt that you will be able to find a motorbike place that will rent you a machine for a price. Just be nice and act responsible. If you have problems with that... the Bemos are really cheap and go every where. So you won't be stuck in one place. When are you going and where do you plan to stay? I do a cheat sheet for Bali that is free and not commercial. Just places that I have found over the years. Email me and I will send one along; [email protected] it is much to large for this forum.
