Can i get married to my boyfriend on a tourist visa in canada?
-
I am in love with a guy who lives in canada. My parents wants to have a look at the place where he lives and what kind of guy he is. After everything, my parents have promised that, they will get us married in Canada itself. Is there a possibility if i visit Canada along with my parents and get married to my boy friend according to the Canadian norms and register my wedding in Canada? The only reason i want to do this because i don't want to stay away from him after our wedding. If he comes to India and we register the papers here, it will take a long time to get over with the procedure and i would have to stay without him which i don't want to. Please help me?? :(

Marriage does not allow you to stay. You can apply for various visas. http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/india-inde/visas/index.aspx?lang=eng&menu_id=4&view=d

Tourist visas are only for the purpose of vacations, holidays, tourism. They are NOT for getting married! Visit, get to know this person, then if you wish to proceed to get married, you and your family have to go home. Then your bf, if he is a Canadian citizen, can apply for your fiance visa, or come to India to marry you there & return to Canada to apply for your spousal visa. You cannot remain in Canada - marrying while on a tourist visa is actually visa fraud, and it is entirely possible to deport you & deny you any future visa in any case of visa fraud. Make sure you go home - on time! - before he proceeds with any sort of visa application. BTW, you say he "lives" in Canada, but failed to specify whether he is actually a Canadian citizen. He might not be able to get you a fiance or spousal visa to Canada - not unless he is a Canadian citizen. If he is, for example, on a temporary student or employment visa, he might not be able to get you into Canada at all. Depends whether he meets all requirements to apply for a dependent visa for a spouse.

I would assume so, I'm getting married to my Fiance In australia on a tourist visa, I couldn't see why you wouldn't be able to if you have the correct papers. As long as you apply for a spousal visa straight after the marriage they have no right to remove you even if your tourist visa expires before you get an answer from the spousal visa you have the right to appeal against deportation until you hear the decision of your spousal visa. Hope this helps and all the best in canada :D
