Any advice on touring Europe?

Looking for a Koga Miyata World Traveler touring bicycle.....?

  • I am planning on going on a tour around Europe and need a reliable bike to do so. I found that the Miyata seemed like the best bet, so I'm pretty set on getting one. If anyone knows of someone looking to get rid of their Miyata, or a touring bike similar, I would be extremely interested! Also if anyone has any gear or advice on touring it would be much obliged. This will be my first solo tour, and need all the help I can get! Thanks!!

  • Answer:

Second hand Koga Miyata's are rarer than hens teeth. If you had paid out the going price for one of these would you sell it ? Best bet is to check all local and overseas retailers for one of these on sale, generally the out of date models go for the best prices. I recently checked out a 2010 model at a price reduction of $1500, that is a huge saving, only problem was that it was a small frame.

My Koga is NOT for sale, but I suggest you consider low-rider large front panniers for your heaviest stuff. It will definitely change the steering characteristics, but it will stabilize the steering.
