Why do people go out?

Why do people go out and get drunk?

  • im 17, i have a job, i am going to college next fall, i have a nice car, i have a good family. Why would i risk any of that for alcohol? i know some people drink to appreciate wine and beer and other things. Some go to bars to socialize and thats all fine and good, but why do kids my age go out and get wasted? just to get wasted? how is that a good time? you dont remember anything and you feel horrible when its all said and done, but i feel like a loser for feeling this way. i spend most nights alone cause my friends go out and drink. should i drink too? why is this so common?

  • Answer:

Hang out with people that feel the same as you when it comes to getting wasted. Personally I don't care to get wasted either. I will drink to enjoy what I'm drinking & to the point of getting a little buzzed but that's it. I don't go past that because otherwise it's not good.

I disagree with your opinion on drinking but you're entitled to it and you shouldn't change yourself for anyone but yourself.

You think you can't have a nice life just because you party? You are like a walking propaganda bot. But to answer your question, people do it because it is the cultural way to have fun while socializing. Why is it so? Who knows. Could be that it stems from rebellion (Parents dont want their kids to drink, but they do it anyway) and escalated from there. Could also be because the drunkeness allows them to escape from reality. You've apparently been raised with unicorns and rainbows but not everyone has it so easy.

I think that most people get wasted because they follow the in crowd and they want to be cool. Or something bad is happening in their life and they drink to- well idk, but they do.

DON'T drink!! :( you'll risk ruining your life!!! people do that to forget their problems, alcohol also gives SHORT read it SHORT term happiness. you have a good life, don't just waste it. (by the way i'm just 12 :D )

Drinking socially & getting drunk are very different. As teens, none of your friends should be drinking anyway so you don't need to join them; but as an adult, going out for drinks is totally acceptable (as long as you don't get drunk)!
