Answer:
There really isn't that much similarity between the comic book Thor and Thor from Norse Mythology other than: They both have a hammer and are supposed to be a Norse god. In the myths and legends Thor was protector of the people and in the movie Thor he did just that. Thor's appetite is similar in both movie and the Norse legends. There is a lot more differences. The simple fact that that the movie Thor is comic book that is poetic license from Stan Lee. It Marvels interpretation on the Norse mythology. They went with the view that they were aliens . And just from the last answers comment he wasn't the god of storms. That was the Goddess Ran who was married to the Sea god Aegir ! ! ! ! Thor was the god of Thunder and lightning. He also controlled the quantity of rain. In Norse myths Thor was said to have red hair, in the comics and movie he has blonde hair. Loki is not Thor's brother because Loki was Odin's blood brother. In the movie They are brothers and the sons of Odin. Would like to point out that Loki wasn't evil and that people seem to follow the view that he is, when he isn't. Thor's wife is Sif. In the movie it seems his love interest was Jane. Sif they also got wrong because in the legends it says that she has GOLDEN blonde hair not black hair. Thors mount in the myths is a chariot pulled by two goats Tanngrisni ("gap-tooth") and Tanngnost ("tooth grinder") In the movie he is seen riding a horse and also at one point enters a pet shop and asks for a horse or a very large dog he can ride.

over one comment, thor was the viking god of storms and rain, not battle as popular belief states (god of battle was Tyr). His wifes hair got cut by loki. Both had hammer named mjornir

They both had hammers. Thor was a redhead in the myths, wore a girdle and gauntlet to enhance his strength, and while he was the son of Odin, Loki was Odin's blood brother and son of Laufey. Thor was a mighty warrior, but had no control over the weather in the myths-thunder was the sound of his hammer, but that's about it.
