What is it like being a Social Worker?

• How was your college experience? How long where you in school? What programs where you in to help you obtain your degree? How is the pay good? Are you guaranteed a job when you finish school? What type of Social Worker can you be? Can this job be stressful? How are the benefit's such as healthcare? What's one thing you love about being a Social Worker? I'm doing a job shadowing project for my college paper for High School and I want to be a Social Worker. I just need information from someone that is actually a social worker.   pay is pittance no passion dont come in. dont come in for alturistic reasons - helping those less endowed. go in with the mind to help them find themselves - like a professional. no pity - its a job that needs to be done. once pity comes in - we get burnt -out and cant function. not easy. it will take a few months. we're not suppose to be cold / robotic but must resolve each case as much as we can so the person can move on and we move on to the next case. help those who help themselves.
