• In the summer of 2012, I will be riding my bike across the country from Long Beach, CA to Washington DC to help people with disabilities. My fraternities philanthropy, Push America (www.pushamerica.org), is a non-profit organization that raises money and awareness for people with disabilities by hosting events such as the Journey of Hope, Build America, and Gear Up Florida. Push America also gives out grants to local disability organizations that are in need of assistance. This summer will be the 25th Anniversary of the Journey of Hope. The bike ride consists of three teams of Pi Kappa Phi brothers riding an average of 70 miles a day. At each stop along the way, we will be participating in friendship visits which include: wheelchair basketball, puppet shows, and empathy dinners. Our goal is to raise awareness for the abilities that people with disabilities actually have. In order to participate, I must raise a minimum of $5,500. I'm almost there but I still need some help.
