Help with UK passport?

UK Visa, US Passport. Help!?

  • What would happen if i overstay the 6 months I'm allowed to stay in the UK with the stamp they put in my US passport by 11 days? Will I be barred from entering the UK again? My husband is a UK citizen so I come to England often to visit his family. My return ticket to the US is 11 days after the stamp on the passport expires.. help!! :(

    I have read your other question and the answers you have gotten. I would not risk to overstay since you might have problems on re-entry or might even be advised to apply for a visa for future entries to the UK. Just leave to France a day before your current leave to enter becomes invalid. Get a flight to London on the day you plan to leave to the United States. Book the flight on a partner airline of the same airline alliance. This will enable you to have your baggage checked through from France to the United States and you can transit through London airside without the need to pass through UK immigration on your way back home..

You won't be barred as overstays of less than 28 days carry no penalty. However, you should only overstay as a result of a genuine emergency (lost passport, illness etc) not simply because you booked a flight that leaves after your visa runs out. Once you have overstayed, you are not able to use the visa waiver and in future will have to obtain a visa prior to travel or risk being sent back to the US without setting foot outside the airport. This spills into other EEA countries as they all share the same immigration database system. Encounter problems in one EEA country and you are likely to encounter problems in all EEA countries. It will also prevent you from applying for a multiple entry visa in the future as you must have an impeccable immigration record to apply for anything other than a single entry visa.
