I need Career Advice for International Affairs?

I am 23 and I worry about my future. I have no career plans because I'm not good at anything! Need advice?

  • Basically, it's like what it says in the title. I am a 23 year old guy (will be 24 in 4 months) and I have no career plans at all! I am stuck in a rut trying to figure out what to do with my life, but at the moment I really don't know what to do. I am not good at anything to be honest. I am good at singing, I'm okay at dancing, and I'm decent at boxing, but I'm too old for all these things. I am not very good at academics, but it seems that education is the only way to get a good job. I don't want to be stuck in an office as a career, I want something exciting out of life, something I enjoy waking up for in the morning, but also something I can earn money from. It is really depressing to think I am still 23 years old and without a chosen career path. I would like a family in the future, but how can I support a family if I haven't got a career for myself!! All my friends seem to have careers in mind, whereas I am still falling behind in life. I don't know what to do any more. I need some advice, please?

  • Answer:

Maybe try experimenting with different types of jobs. Look at the kind of jobs your friends do and see what they have to say about them. You have to start somewhere before you can get to that happy job you enjoy waking up for in the morning, and that might not be one that you like. But, by experimenting with different kinds of jobs, you'll hopefully find one in a field you want to focus on in the end! Good luck!

I bet you'll be great at anything you put your mind to. You just need to practice. Everything requires practice. It also depends on what you define a "good job". Me? All jobs seem like just a normal job until you make it into something great. Take any job and make it exciting to you. Your job is what you make of it. Also, you want to have a family? Research how much it costs to have children. A lot of people have families even if they only work minimum wage jobs. It's not depressing. There are more depressing things that happen in the world every second. I was diagnosed with cancer just last year and had surgery, now I'm so sick I can't even leave my house. I do not know how long I'll be alive for. I'm only 21.

Obtain government employment; state or municipality doesn't matter. You don't have to have any skills, only need a GED and your worries about successful employment will be over. You will always have a job, vacations, personal days, raises, health benefits and a pension that will set you up for life even after retirement. Now after gaining government employment you have all the freedom and time in the world to pursue your likes and hobbies. I'm not being sarcastic, it is reality.
