(Girls only) If you a called a guy a "great friend" what does that mean? I wanna tell her I like her.?

Known a girl since I was 15. Flirted in HS went to homecoming Senior Year. It never developed and we went away to college. Reconnected after 7 years last summer. "Hung out" twice and I haven't made a move yet. The last time we hung out (months ago) she acted a little shy and awkward. The first time was chiller and when we started talking bout the past she goes "ya I still have our pictures" like smiling and giggling a little bit.. I wanna tell her how I feel and ask her out on a date to see where it goes. She lives about an hour away, but I have transportation. I like her too much that it doesn't matter. The other thing is that she is recovering from an addiction problem, but it doesn't matter to me. I like her for who she is. We get along really well: both kinda goofy, smart and have similar backgrounds. I just think it could work and I want it to. I really like her a lot. We get along so great and is one of the sweetest girls I've ever met. I try to date other people and I just think about her. I can't stop thinking about it. She just does something to me that can't be explained. I have to try. What exactly does it mean when a girl calls you a great friend. It just feels like she feels more than that for me. I am sure she used to have a crush on me in HS. Can I still become more than friends and have you ever called a guy a friend that you dated? What do you think? I am supposed to hang out this week. I wanna say: It has been great reconnecting with you these last few months. I really like hanging around you. You make me feel really good and always have. You're very special in my life. I have to be honest and I say I had a crush on you in HS, but I never came out fully. I realize over the last few months I still have feelings more than friends with you and I wanna know in the next couple weeks if you wanna go on a date with me and see where it goes. Take it slow etc

Answer:
I would definitely ask her out. I think she likes you. But don't do the big speech. Just ask her, "Would you go out on a date with me?" and see what happens.

Great friend=not boyfriend. And in fact, is one of the things you should dread. Because she most likely won't enter a relationship with you in case things don't work out and then your friendship becomes awkward.
need to act like a total a.ss. It may not seem like a good idea and at first I didn't even believe it but it works. Girls love indifference since they feel like they have to work for it. Careful! If you overdo it, you may get laid. Ive done it before and so far I've had 5 girlfriends throughout freshman year.
