What causes a stomach ache, and how do you get rid of it?

Why do I get a stomach ache that comes back every month? How do I fix it?

  • Hey everyone! I'm a 18 year old male and I think I'm pretty healthy. However, ever since last April since I got food poisoning (or so I think), I've been having a stomach ache that turns up every month. My bowel movements are relatively fine however the stomach ache is characterized by pains on the sides and the insides of the stomach ache (not behind the belly) and near the lower abdomen. It gives me trouble taking deep breaths at times. It lasts approximately 24 hours and goes away on its own. My mouth dries up and I try to drink water but I get an urge to vomit any water I drink during the period. It's just annoying really. The pain on a scale of 1-10 ranges from 4-7. I've been to the doctor once and since I had a fever at the same time (I think I might have a fever now too), he dismissed it as food poisoning. My father thinks it might be some sort of acidity. I didn't tell my parents about it this time because they'd just worry. This has come back once every month approximately 9 out of the 12 months since the first occurrence. Any ideas what this can be? Thank you all!
