How long does grass grow in Arkansas?

My lawn looks terrible! How do I plant and grow grass?

• I planted grass seed in my backyard about a month ago, and it hasn't grown in very well. I used two bags of grass seed (which is more than needed for my small yard), and covered it all with a good amount of lawn soil. I've been watering it every day. The grass has only grown in in the middle third of the yard (and even there it looks patchy). The left third is partially shaded by a large tree, and the right third is shaded by the house in the late afternoon. I knew the shade would affect the grass growth, but I didn't realize it would cause not one single piece of grass to grow. I bought fescue grass seed, because the bag said it was better for shaded areas than bermuda. But, maybe it's too hot? Highs are averaging in the high 80s to low 90s right now. I don't know anything about types of grass. I need help...I really don't know anything about growing a new lawn. Do you have any tips for me?

  According to me the soil where you are trying to grow the grass has some problem. Although you have tried to make that soil but I guess it was not enough. Yes irregular sunlight can really harm the proper growth of grass but that does not mean not even single grass will not grow.
