How can I cheaply refresh parquet in an apartment?

What do you do first? floor laying or wall painting?

  • I'm renovating/redecorating my apartment and i can't work out who should come in first, the floorers, the electricians (to change the existing lights) or the painters. I'm getting parquet flooring throughout the whole apartment and i'm painting all of the walls and the ceilings as well as getting the light fixtures changed but i can't for the life of me work out which i should get done first between the walls and the floors. any help would be muchly appreciated

    Electricians...painters and the flooring last is the best way to do it. Been there and done that on 100s of houses. GL

Electricians first Painters second Floors last Electricians usually have to cut holes in ceilings and walls. Paint may get on the floors if you do not paint the walls prior to putting in the flooring. Plus you do not want a bunch of worker walking all over your new floor.

The painters. Get the messy stuff out of the way first :)

Start at the top and work your way down...ALWAYS. Paint first. That way you don't have to worry about covering your new floors(spending more money) or getting paint on them...
