Why do I have a sharp pain in my head?

Diagnose sharp pain in back of head and shoulder?

• I can't say it happens often, but for many years it has been happening every once in a while and sometimes it is worse than others. I get a sharp, pulsing pain in either the back right or left of my head (I believe it's the parietal lobe) and at the same time a sharp pulsing pain on my shoulder. They are somehow related because the pulsing of pain is almost "synchronized" between them and they happen at the same exact time. What's even more strange is they're also on the same side of my body. If my left parietal lobe is in pain so is my left shoulder and vice versa (which I think is unusual because I think the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body). I'm a 16 year old male and this has been happening for quite a long time, though maybe only every few months. Sometimes it's over in under a minute, sometimes it lasts up to 10 min and is unbearably painful to the point I cannot really move at all. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I think the simultaneous head and shoulder pain is significant.

  oh,, that absolutely sounds like a severe migraine...i get the occassionally (16 year old girl), but my brother gets them ALL THE TIME (15 year old boy), and his sometimes get so bad that he literally cannot see...I would talk to your doctor because there are tests they can do to confirm it and medication they can put you on to prevent it from happening or to make them less severe when they do happen. #1 rule of migraines? AAAI PICK ONE!! Advil, Aleeve, Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen Water, and a dark room...maybe a cold washcloth over your eyes or behind your ears Feel better! (and don't worry...) :)
