My right ear bleeding inside?

Ear leaking clear fluid?

  • For about a week my right ear has been hurting and sometimes I can't hear out of it so I put a hot rag over it. This doesn't help me to hear completely again but it does help a little. Today I went to the doctor who said I have strep (my throat doesn't hurt at all though, but I do have a high temperature). She also cleaned my left ear with this pointy stick which didn't hurt too bad, and I was told I have unusually narrow ear drums and when I was cleaning my ears with q-tips, it was pushing everything deeper in. The doctor then tried two times to do the right, but it hurt too much so I asked her to stop. She told me that she scraped my ear canal, and it was bleeding. After I left I realized the bleeding had slowed but my ear was also leaking clear fluid. I was given Debrox but the bottle says not to use if you have ear drainage. I fell asleep laying on my bad ear and woke up with clear liquid dripping out and not being able to hear out of that ear, so I used the Debrox. It didn't help at all. What is this clear fluid, should I tell my doctor about it, and what could be wrong with this ear? And is there anything I can do to help hear clearly out of this ear again? Thank you :]

  • Answer:

It seems the eardrum is perforated and you should not put eardrops in it without doctor's advice. Get the consultation asap, it may require surgical intervention. All the best!
