How quickly would I lose weight eating only celery, drinking water, and taking vitamins?
-
My brother and I are going to do this, so don't try to stop us. We're going to eat only celery, drink only water, and take vitamin and fiber supplements (so we don't have the runs). We will be getting all the nutrients we need so please don't worry about that. How quickly would we lose weight? We are also going to be exercising during this time frame. My goal is to lose about 150 lbs and my brother about 50. So about how quick would we lose weight? Thank you for your help.

Answer:
You’ll be getting all the nutrients that you need? That’s funny…like are you smart and joking or just stupid and clueless? Your body will not be able to process vitamins unless they come with the food in which they're supposed to come (blame hundreds of thousands of years of human evolution as you cannot single out and absorb vitamins). You just store the fat soluble ones (A, D, E, K) and pee out (it's called expensive pee) the water soluble ones (all the Bs and the C). Why celery? That’s an interesting choice. Frankly, if you ask me, you’d be better off with just water. After about 3 days, your hunger will subside then once you empty your intestines, you won’t have to worry about "having the runs" as you won’t have anything left to crap. Exercising will be quite a challenge without carbs. It’s like you’re a masochist, having to deal with extra weight, probably an inefficient cardiovascular system and not enough muscle mass to help you along and you add “not eating for energy” as the icing on the cake of personal torture. How quick would you lose weight? Twice as long as how fast you’ll regain it, that’s my guess. Eat less than your BMR, send your metabolism down the drain and then come to regret it.

You cannot healthily lose 150 pounds this way. I expect you would lose at least 15-25 but you would be much better off following another regimen. I assume that after a few days of this 'diet' you will probably feel fatigued and possibly faint if trying to also exercise. Good luck. Also, if your body isn't getting enough of what it needs, it will lockdown and hold onto everything instead of burning it... and too much of a diet like this will make your muscles weak more so than you actually losing 'fat'.

First of all it is not very healthy what you are doing. You'll probably lose some weight but it will only be in your muscles. Depending on how much you eat your belly might get bigger or it might get smaller. You might not have the strength to exercise with this diet either

probably about 3-5lbs a day for the 1st week then 1-3 a day after that. unless your body hits a plateau or wants to hold on to water weight.
