How popular is K-pop internationally?

KPop Audition (SM/CUBE/YG/PLEDIS/JYP/J.TUNE ETC.)?

  • Hi there,i was wondering if anybody knows about information in regarding about auditioning in any of the KPOP entertainment industry in S.Korea. Im 20yrs old. Im mix of Korean, Murut, Iban and Dusun. My height is 153cm. (People tend to mistake me as 17yr old kid at times if i wore casual sneakers, jeans, shirt and no makeup as i still remain my baby face features) Light Olive Skin, Hardly any pimples/acne skin problem. I do have skin allergy if i ate excessive seafood or beef) My first language is English, 2nd Bahasa Melayu, 3rd Basic Korean, 4th Basic French and currently now learning Basic Japanese. I don't really have any lessons in singing but i've been singing for my church choir for 13yrs as a soprano for i've got a passion to sing, also been taking piano lessons for 2yrs. I have no experience in dancing like those formal dance practice(ballet, hiphop, freestyle etc.) but i was informed that im very quick and flexible to learn dance steps very quickly and able to modify it to suit my style when taught, as i took part a few plays within my church or school performance. Im not sure whether if the Kpop industries include athletic specification within audition or interviews but i play Golf, Netball, badminton, hockey and i was a trainee in the Brunei National Swimming team ever since i was 6yrs old but i stopped for about few years now due to clashes of exams and tuition schedule (in which i've been goin to tuition eversince 7yrs old till im 19 non-stop either in the afternoon or evenings or even attended on both times) and was wondering if whether i have any chance of getting in in any of the KPOP industry in S.korea? 1) Currently i've been accepted to study in Seoul National University to pursue my studies in Fine arts, so i will be moving to S.korea real soon and continuing my studies there. But im Pretty unsure as to what any of these Kpop industry are looking for, the training life especially since i will be studying in Seoul National University will it be alright? 2) How about the travelling from the company to the university?because im under the international scholarship programme will they support like part of the funding fees for my studies or do i have to change university? 3) How is training life is like? 4) What are their expectation? Do i have to communicate purely Korean if i ever had to meet a face to face interview?(Due to i only learn basic conversation, greetings and basic grammar/vocab skills) 5) How to hand in my videos or portfolios? Do i send it thorough mail or do i have to hand it in personally? 6) Do they look at age or appearance? For i know Koreans do take highly on appearance. Im not sure if i even suit the right pick especially my height. But i do have double eyelids naturally, dark hazel brown eyes, light olive skin, baby face, weigh 55kg, small snub nose, cupid bow lips, shoulder length ebony natural wavy hair. 7) How long would i train? 8) Eventhough im part Korean but not amKorean citizen would it be alright? 9) What type of song should i sing? (popular, english, girl group, korean?) 10) What happens after the 2nd audition? would there even be a 2nd audition? 11) What is taught during training? 12) Which is easier to get it? I know that getting to any entertainment business is not easy but which consist more leniency? 13) Do they even ask like personal questions? like our lifestyle? family?education? 14) Do u get to chose if u want to be in a group or solo, or does the company chose? 15) How is the Diet regime? is it absolutely strict? cuz i know there are different style of diets and exercise being introduced in different companies? Like Park Bom from 2NE1 is banned from eating food like Corn and Bread and made to go on into a lettuce diet, and some are banned from eating like meat contents in meals only vegetarian. 16) Is it true not every trainee makes it through the whole training process. but if u have the motivation and, let's say, stamina or endurance ability, can you go all the way and debut? 17) If they accept your audition video, how will you know? & what happens then? 18) Which company do you think is best for me to give it a shot? 19) Based off of my 'about me' what are my chances? 20) What are some things to work on before i audition to improve those chances? Any advice? even a bit of advise would help a lot! All opinions and answers are always welcome and it would be great to also receive advices whom have experience as a trainee or a past trainee or even whom have any experiences of information of life as one. Sorry for the long and ardeous questions but i really want to know a whole lot of information of applying into any of the KPOP industry so i could take precaution and be ready on what to expect and im sure it would help others as well whom are curious about how life as KPOP trainees or celebrities have to go through. Thank you and God bless everyone and may you all too achieve your

    1. It's fine but it might be very hard for u to be a trainee and a student at the same time 2. idk. 3. They train you in foreign languages, how to deal with anti fans and comments, singing dancing, Physical education etc. 4. You should learn Korean language. But when auditioning u can sing English songs. 5. idk. but it's best to go there personally and audition. 6. They look at appearance. U need too have looks and talent 7. It depends. Some are months some are years. 8. yeah. 9. u should prepare about 3 songs (according to some answers in yahoo answers). Any songs. either Korean or english. 10. 3 auditions in total. 2nd audition is the part where there are judges (according to some answers here in yahoo answers) 11. it's in no. 3 12. i dont get the question 13. No. It's in your application form. 14. idk about that 15. It is. Some of the kpop idols have diet from a very young age 16. yeah. That's why some of the trainees bacome trainees for like 7 years before their debut. 17. i think they email you 18. SM is a good company 19. U can be one if ur singing does not sucks. 20. Polish ur talent. U should practice a lot often. Ur going to sing only one song in the audition to go to the secong audition. You should be confident to perform to a lot of people since there will be an audience to watch your audition. :)
