Finance question???

A question about student finance and accommodation?

  • My boyfriend will be on a course of student finance in the up and coming month of September 2012. He will be living in student accommodation in the first year, but then after that first year... - What are the circumstances of me being able to live with him? ...I'm not expecting to live off of his student finance money or anything, and I will pay half of the rent of wherever we stay, and half of anything that is needed.. - But would that be allowed? - And if so.. how would you do it? - Do you need to tell who ever is in charge of student finance etc? LOOKING FOR ANSWERS AND NO ONE KNOWS, So 10 points to anyone who has a CLUEE?! Thankyou! Really hope you know the answers? (Ive already asked this question, but need more than one answer haha,)

  • Answer:

If you want to live with him, he would need to get an apartment off campus. His student aid money may or not pay for it, depending on exactly how it is structured and what the terms and conditions of the aid are. If it is a student loan, then housing expenses most certainly CAN be covered by that money. To find out if his aid can be used for an off-campus apartment, your boyfriend should talk to someone in the financial aid office at his school. They will be able to tell him if it is possible for his aid to cover it, and exactly what he needs to do to make it happen. Under such an arrangement, you should both be on the lease and agree to split the rent evenly.
