What is considered a good GPA at university?

Is getting As/Bs in college considered good grades?

  • So I'm currently a freshman at UCSD( University of Ca, San Diego) and I get mostly A's and B's. For fall quarter my GPA was 3.653 and for winter quarter my GPA was 3.122. I'm hoping to eventually get into med school, but I'm not sure if my GPA/grades are considered good especially compared to other students at my school that seem so naturally bright. For those that actually attended UCSD, if I maintain this, what are my chances of getting into the impacted biology department? I'm currently undeclared and extremely nervous about being admitted. Fall: Chem: B Spanish:A Jazz Dance: A Calculus: A- Winter Quarter: Calculus: A Humanities: B- Biology: B Chemistry: B Thanks in advance!

    You need to be getting mostly all As if you want a shot at med school admission. I wish you researched this before you got so "late" into your college life. Med school applicants are very qualified, and even among a pool of qualified applicants (high GPA, great MCAT scores, etc.), only about 2 of 7 applicants make it in. Getting As/Bs is good, but you were not asking that, you were asking about "med school good."

ok gonna be honest here....ur science classes r the ones that u need to be aiming As for..both chem and bio, u have a B which is okay btu not great enough to make u go far....either u make urself look unique somehow or start shooting for A's in atleast ur science classes...even if ur overall is 3.7, ur science classes r pulled out and they get a GPA of their own...so u can have a 3.7 or something btu if u have a C in any science class, then forget it, get it? point is...u gotta beat the other kids and weed them out to go anywhere in the medical field
