How can I transter from CSU to UC?

I got denied to my number one UC, community college or CSU for two years?

  • If I got denied admission to a UC that was my number one choice (I appealed and hopefully they accept me...), should I go to a community college or CSU for 2 years? I am really confused on what to do. I realize that community college saves more money but what's better other than financial benefits? In California I can either attend CRC or Sac City for a couple years then transfer to UC Davis or go to Sacramento State University then transfer to UC Davis..but I'm not sure what to do at all. I have to decide quick and its really stressful because I have exams to take if I end up going to a community college. I'm fairly young (I don't turn 18 until December) and I want to finish college as soon as possible, quite honestly. Of course everything is null if Davis accepts my appeal (I deeply hope so.) Thanks in advance for any advice~

  • Answer:

You must know of an unusual program if you believe that you would have a reasonable expectation of transferring from Sacramento State to any UC. The UCs are required to take all eligible community college transfer applicants before they take any from CSUs. It is much better to start and finish at a CSU than to start at a community college and have to compete for UC admission. The shock of the quality of work expected at a UC as opposed to a CSU causes many transfer students to drop out of UC as the community college did not provide sufficient preparation.
