To become a Veterinarian should you first get your Veterinarian Technician degree?
-
Do you HAVE to get your vet. Tech. degree to become a Veterinarian? If you don't, does it help to have it?
-
Answer:
You don't have to and it doesn't help. As the other poster pointed out the credits probably won't transfer. You need a BS in some subject preferably related to animals or the industry you want to work in (agriculture for example). Most vets major in biology, chemistry, agriculture business, or some other related degrees (cal poly pomona and SLO both have really good pre-vet programs to give you some ideas). You can actually major in whatever you want, so long as you take the pre-requisite courses and score well on whatever the admittance test is.

Do not earn a veterinary technician degree first. The credits do not transfer to the pre-vet program.
