Do i get paid more flipping burgers at mcdonalds then some of the other jobs?

I've been a server in fine dining for 20 years, however, I just took the past year off. I keep track of my tips every day, and do a weekly total/average, then monthly, then yearly. In 2009 I AVERAGED $86 a day for a 4-hour shift (on average). This is for a lunch shift, dinner servers make more. In 2010 I AVERAGED $78 a day for a 4-hour shift (on average, it could be 3 hours or 6, depending on your station/schedule) That's about $20 an hour NOT counting your paycheck. Serving is hard work. You're on your feet all day, usually with no breaks. Some people can be really rude. Most cooks are cranky & don't handle complaints well. But if you think you can handle it, it can be very lucrative. I was a single mom with NO support from my ex, paid cash for my cars, put food on the table, etc. Most chains don't care too much about experience. They have pretty extensive training. 3 days studying their menu/food, 3 days "following" another server, then 3 days with a server following you. I went through that at a Lone Star, and that was WITH 15 years experience in a steakhouse! (I got fed up & left, didn't take the job). If you have any personality, let it SHINE!
