Does a replacement exhaust (different but not an aftermarket one) make your insurance go up?

Can I sell an item I've been given by my insurance company?

  • Unfortunately, I've recently suffered from a burglary and have had to make a list of all of the things that have been taken so that my insurance company can replace them. However one of the items that was taken was my old mobile phone which I used before I switched to contract. The insurance company were shown the box it came in (so it's all legit!) and happily replaced it along with all my other items. The replacement phone is not needed by me at all; as I mentioned I have a contract phone now and so have no need for a pay as you go. The question is, can I sell it over amazon or ebay? I would have sold my other phone at some point so it's not like I've claimed just to sell it! It's just such a nice phone they've given me and to have it lying around my house would be such a waste. I fear however that the insurance company will somehow see that I've sold it and think I've swindled them or something! Anyone know whether I can do this?

  • Answer:

What??? Of course you can sell it - it's yours! It doesn't belong to the insurance company, it belongs to you. You can do whatever you want with it. Once a claim has been settled, the items are yours to do with as you please.

Absolutely yes it is your property. You did not swindle them it was not a scam so you have nothing to worry about. Put it on ebay!
