How long does Xenon last?

Does XENON headlight bulbs consume much higher power then halogen and have a shorter lifespan?

  • Ok Im new to auto lighting, i come across a type of headlight bulbs called XENON, not HID. I read some reviews learned that they have no advantages over halogen bulbs except maybe the color. In the description it says this, "12V 65W = 135W (5,600 KELVIN) HEADLIGHT BULBS in PLATINUM BLUE" did that mean it uses 65W power from the car or 135W? with such a high power consumption, is it possible to melt the electrical wire or connector? and can these really last that long as advertised? i know silver star ultra is rated at around 200 hrs, how can these be at 11k that much difference? anyway here is the link to the bulb i was talking about http://www.gorecon.com/product.php?pk=251&pname=Part-2649004PB-9004-5600-KELVIN-Headlight-Bulbs-in-Platinum-Blue&p_cat=72

    They are trying to say that they consume 65w of power but produce as much light as a 135w bulb made by others. I doubt their **** is any better then any of the other fancy blue lamps out there and just as illegal for road use.

They only use 65 watts but have the output equal to 135watts. It is a fact they do have a shorter lifespan than regular bulbs, but brighter whiter light, you gotta give some to get some it is a fact. They only use 65 watts of power from your car. No the Xenon gas lets the element burn at a higher temperature and brightness hence the output value of a 135w halogen bulb, also the reason for shorter lifespan. They are about as close as you are going to get without actually using HID/system and bulbs.
