Do stereotypes exist for the reason that they are often true?

Are stereotypes real for a reason?
-
Answer:
No, it's the other way around. Stereotypes are often completely made up, someone takes 1 experience, or what they think they saw, or heard, and projects it on groups of people. In ignorant societies people do often try and live-up to stereotypes, to be a part of a 'group'.

Stereotypes are true MOST of the time. However, there are quite often times when the stereotypes are not true, and it is often offensive to that group of people to claim that it is always the case, which is why we try to avoid using them.
