Can you determine bond angle and polarity?
-
can you determine bond angle and polarity just by direct inspection of a lewis structure? my answer:you can determine it by memorizing for bond angles and for polarity using electronegativity
-
Answer:
Yes, you can. Once you draw the lewis structure, you can figure out its shape and that will help you figure out its polarity, but you also gotta know a bit about polar and non-polar bonds and whether the bonds are identical or not. And same with the bond angle. Once you know the shape of the molecule (which you have to draw a lewis structure to find out), you can just memorize the bond angles.. So yeah, you can.
