Is engineering a good field to go into?

Which engineering field should I go into?

• I am just about to graduate in mechanical engineering and I just wanted to get some opinions. I love engineering. It's in my blood and I have wanted to be an engineer since I was 12. I have had a very steep learning curve over the past 4 years and I would like it to stay that way. I want to get into a field where I never stop learning about everything I learned in school (like thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, strength of materials). At first, something in aviation or aerospace caught my eye. But I'd like to get some opinions from other people who perhaps are in a field which they really like because they have to keep learning. Any thoughts? I'll take any and all opinions.

  First, I will admit that you have a higher level of education than myself. I am currently nearing the end of my A.S. degree in power plant technology. This is leading to an electrician position at my local nuclear power plant. Since I've started this program, I've gained much knowledge in the field of energy. We live in a society that is so dependent on so many different kinds of energy, hence the "energy crisis". We need scientists and engineers that have the education/ intelligence/ curiosity/ passion/ creativity/ etc. to make a difference in the field of energy. Whether it be in the field of aerospace/automobiles, energy for our homes or businesses, or whatever applies to this field. It is fascinating stuff and I always catch myself daydreaming of how to better the technology of energy production/consumption. If you are even partially unfamiliar with how a power plant works, try to youtube it. I guarantee you would be interested in the field of energy. It's our future! Hope this helps!
