Duke of Edinburgh at weekend, Period Please help!?

• I have my Silver Duke of Edinburgh Saturday - Monday (I'll be walking for about 7-8 hours and were not allowed to use public toilets etc.). Any tips on how I can manage my period over it (Will be on for all of the days, and don't want my group to know), also as were camping should I use tampons at night as well as pads to avoid leaking? Any help please (Can't go to doctors, but can go to supermarket and a small boots drugstore). Thank you

  You WILL be able to use toilets - that's a basic human right they cannot deny you, knowing that women menstruate they'd also put lives at risk denying women time to change tampons. Do not use tampons overnight - tampons need to be changed every 4-6 hours so there is a chance you'd not be able to change often enough if you oversleep, but also when laying down less blood flows down into the tampon so it will absorb more vaginal moisture leading to increased damage and higher risk of TSS...essentially it'd be like wearing too high an absorbency. Why not use a menstrual cup? Cups are internal like tampons but far safer so they can be worn at any time including overnight for up to 12 hours - so easier for you to manage when walking around and overnight, also menstrual cups hold more flow than tampons and pads combined plus have light suction so they don't leak like tampons or pads. Boots sell Mooncup - http://www.mooncup.co.uk/wc.php?u=1741 If sticking with tampons and pads use both - be sure to use the correct absorbency (do not use higher absorbency tampons to protect against leaks or to leave longer, it doesn't work like that and you'd just be putting yourself in greater risk) but you may use higher absorbency pads. Wear tight-fitting pants to keep your pad in place and dark bottoms in case of leaks - also in case of leaks take spare pads, tampons and underwear with you, remember too if camping you may need little bags to keep your used products in just in case there's no bins.
