What is your opinion on Hero's that Kill?

  • Hey guys I'm just curious what is your position on hero's that kill? Do you like it or do you prefer them not to kill? this came up in a conversation we were having about batman that evolved into a bigger talk. We were talking of how Batman would not kill the joker and we understand why. Because that would mean joker tainted batman and he would win but if Red Hood (jason todd) just shot him *BANG* dead and ended it would he even care or would he feel the burden be off his shoulders that he didn't kill him but he is officially gone. Then Superman doesn't really kill either (excluding Doomsday) even Darkseid he held back on. Spidey also doesn't kill cause he knows his uncle ben would not approve But what about villains to dangerous to live what then? We then brought up Goku from DBZ. He doesn't like to kill but if he needs to he will. and he's not like "I'm no better than the monsters I face" He's like "people are dying, I can't let you go on killin anymore innocents who've done nothing wrong, you're dead" and he's still like the kindest nicest most sensible person. He knows what needs to be done. Punisher and Rorschach are disturbed individuals who kill but what is your opinon on hero's who kill?

  • Answer:

it's annoying how some heroes let the bad guy go, when he could have just ended their reign of terror i think heroes that kill are better, because it prevents the bad guy from hurting more people!

I feel that hero's should kill sometimes. Not all the time. Just as I am getting tired of hero's just letting EVERY criminal go alive, I think it would be boring if they killed everyone. There should be a happy median.

I believe that the decision to take a human life must be a last resort thing, only done when all other possible avenues have failed, and the target cannot be prevented from doing grievous harm to others in any other way. Doing it in cold blood is wrong (meaning you can kill another person for just annoying you in some way, and you're quite capable of enjoying the taste of your food and/or sleeping like a baby afterward, because the enormity of what you have done simply cannot bother you. This kind of person makes the best assassin or frontline soldier, because a conscience only gets in the way of the job, but is very dangerous to allow to mingle with the public.). And doing it in hot blood is wrong (meaning something that someone else may have done or allegedly done has made you so angry that you are seeing red, and you have a deadly weapon that makes it easy for you to execute your target. Once you have taken a life, you cannot give it back. And should you discover, after you have cooled down, that you've taken that life wrongfully, then all you can do is pay for your crime as the law dictates. Either way, a hero who kills is no longer a hero, but a vigilante (a hypocrite who has to resort to breaking the law in order to what? Uphold it? Even cops can't do that and legally get away with it.) Yes, the legal system has failed us on plenty of occasions, but until somebody comes up with something better, it's all we've got. Even if a trial is a sham, at least it goes on the books for everyone to see and review later on. Murderers don't allow their victims even that much. Now, crippling someone like the Joker is another matter. A bullet doesn't necessarily have to kill, you know. It can incapacitate, often permanently. Paralyze the s.o.b, and he'll have the rest of his life to contemplate what he did to end up that way. And it won't be as easy for him to get around like he used to, which severely reduces the amount of mischief he can make. What's more, while the legal system would still call that vigilante justice, any corrupt legal system that keeps repeatedly releasing proven threats to society like the Joker would similarly be less inclined to go after whoever maimed him.

I think if there's no other choice, then it must be done. So they make the right choice. Vegeta was right when he said, "You fool you let them go! Do you think they would show you the same mercy?!" Some villains are just pure evil and won't stop, they'll continue killing, so if there's no other choice, than it must be done. And in the dbz world killing a villain isnt a bad thing cause, not counting filler, when a bad guy dies. They seem to be sent to Hell for the purpose of erasing their memories and cleansing their soul. They will then be reborn as a new person. So in the dbz world it's not really bad. This DOES happen in the seires, it's just that the fillers, and eng dub changes to the original dialouge contradicts this!!

Well depending on the villain if its just some robbery or something probably no but if its murder or destruction or worse then killing them would be right. Lets see I think the saying is kill one a murder kill a thousand a conquer and kill a million a god. Right or wrong sometimes takes second place as world views. I would rather save a life then take a life.
