Can a surgeon tell if its breast cancer before receiving biopsy results?

After an excisional breast biopsy in December, I still have extreme pain in the breast....?

  • After having an excisional breast biopsy done in December (the results were negative), I am still in extreme pain and it hinders every aspect of my life! I have seen my Dr, my gyno, and a breast specialist...(the actual surgeon has YET to see me since then)....A CT scan was done (which I think a MRI is needed) and nothing out of the norm was found in the imaging....On Feb 14th I had my annual appt with my gyno and told him about pain in the incision, he discovered one of the sutures had not dissolved, so he cut it and the rest receded back into my breast (IDK if this could be any cause of my pain or not, but the breast Dr says not, so I am currently taking her word on that, for now) Just below the incision there was a large mass of what I had thought might be scar tissue...about 2 weeks ago it changed not only it's location (seemingly receding or going in deeper), but is size and density as well...since then the pain has spread into the armpit and down the arm to the elbow. (Let me just add here that the DAILY pain that is always there is almost in the center of the chest extending from the breast tissue or muscle up toward the clavicle...always there....always) The Dr.s have decided there is nothing wrong and that I should start taking elavil (it is an antidepressant that in the quantities they want me to take is only suppose to affect the nerves, however I have read alot on it, as well as statements form several people who had it prescribed for this as well....WAY TOO MANY BAD side effects.....Not only that, but it doesn't tell me what is going on inside mt body (why would I want to "put a bandaid on it" when we don't even know what IT is???). The Drs say this has NEVER happened before (Yeah right....in all of history, of all the surgeries...I'm the first to have complications...NOT!) I need to find out why the pain is there...was a muscle cut, nerve damage (will it ever heal)...etc I used to be a record breaking athlete so it's not like this was an issue before, but it sure is now! I suppose my question to you would be....is there ANYONE who has either experienced such a nightmare or a Dr that has heard of this happening? And what step should be taken next? I am going to member services in the AM as well!!! PS None of the pain meds work either (so I don't take them either), and I don't want to sleep my life away... Thanks in advance for any advice.....
