Is it really hard to believe that I work evening and weekends while my fiance takes care of our son?
-
I recently got a job after staying home with our 14 month for an entire yr. Basically my job is in retail and I work evenings and weekends so I end up working like 23 hours a wk. My co workers have asked me is my son in day care and I tell them no. As soon as my fiance gets off work he watches our son for me so I can work. The thing is that they keep asking me the same question every wk about my son and who's watching him. I even had one ask me how was work today? I told him I do not work during the day, I basically am a homekeeper during the day and retail clerk at night. It is getting ridiculous as I feel like they think I am lying. I am 24 my fiance is 29 he is an engineer and I work retail. Why do you think my co workers keep asking me the same questions regarding our situation. I have only been working here for about 3 months. Some of the male co workers have even asked to meet my fiance which is odd since I dont really talk about him at work.

Answer:
It is not all that unusual for parents to solve the child care problem by staggering their work shifts, as you and your fiance have done. I would hazard a guess that many of your co-workers work multiple jobs just to get by, and the concept of not having to work during the day before their evening shift at the store boggles their little minds. The males may have you pegged as a single mother who has invented a fiance to try to ward off advances from guys. It truly is none of their business, but since their questioning seems to bother you so much, perhaps having your fiance stop by with the baby some night while you're working would shut your co-workers up.

Its noone's business except yours. Also, whats so bad about telling them that your fiance is taking care of your son? If they can't accept it, don't let it bother you. They are just being nosey.
