If it's big enough it can be dangerous. A rock weighing one pound coming down at 200mph would put an end to all of your troubles if it hit you on the head.

Are you discussing it with yourself!!!! O_O

Meteors are the only ones that are dangerous. Meteorites are not dangerous because they have already impacted the ground and have done their damage. Their danger is past tense.

Meteors ALL burn up in the atmosphere. Meteorites are what make it through the atmosphere and land on the earth!. So, yes, if they were large enough, meteorites could be very dangerous.

Safe (not dangerous) when resting on ground with zero kinetic energy (meteorites).

Yes, meteors can be very dangerous! A meteor is a rock travelling extremely fast (sometimes in excess of 5000 m/s) through the Earth's atmosphere, though most do burn up, it is possible to be hit (and if hit, likely killed) by one. A meteorite, is much less hazardous as it is a meteor which has already reached the surface of the Earth. Thus the only way that a meteorite is dangerous would be if it was extremely hot right after touch down or if it contain some sort of harmful element or compound, though this is unlikely. However, all that being said, it is extremely unlikely you will be hit by a meteor. There is no real danger. As an aside, a meteoroid is a rock travelling through space (which is not large enough to be considered an asteroid) and not through the atmosphere. Also the technical term for all space debris such as asteroids, meteoroids and comets is a bolide.
