What is the meaning of a fire ship?

In the Titanic why did Mr Anderson move the needle of the clock in the fire mantel when the ship was sinking?

  • In the movie Titanic, when the ship is sinking and Mr Anderson is standing in front of the fire mantel, staring at the clock, why does he move the needles of the clock? What does that signify? 1 second ago - 4 days left to answer.

  • Answer:

His name is Mr. Andrews. He fixes the clock because it may be a minute behind or too fast. It shows that he is a perfectionist, and that his standards for the ship are high no matter the circumstances. If you look when he changes it, he only moves it about a centimetere. The clocks played an important role in this movie. When Rose passed away and was reunited with Jack in her dream, the time on the clock was at 2:20, the time the Titanic sank at.

Just an example of Anderson's sterling character, to the last. As the ship's designer, he felt himself responsible for every aspect of the Titanic's look, feel, and proper running. Noticing the mantel clock was a minute or so inaccurate, he couldn't help but re-set it to the proper time, even in the face of his own mortality. He continued to do his duty, he couldn't do anything less.

Good question, wondered about that myself. Oh and by the way his name is Mr Andrews not Mr Anderson

Gosh, you've got me wondering. I always presumed that he changed it so when the clock strikes the ship will have just sunk, like a countdown of some sort. Just my opinion
