How do you multiply fractions by whole numbers?

Math problem with fractions, whole numbers and answers... help?

  • okay, my homework has this bonus question on it and my teacher wants us to do it. I just don't really get it. Can someone answer it for me? Here it is: When you multiply a whole number by a fraction, the product... basically they are asking what is the product when you multiply a whole number by a fraction. Example (and this is wrong but still): You may answer by saying that the product always has a whole number in it. Thanks thanks thanks alot!!!!!! <3

    whole number multiplied by a fraction can give the both 6*1/3=2 6*1/4=3/2 so there is no solution when u adding a whole number with a fraction gives always a fraction 3+2/3=5/3

Hi Allyson !! :) the answer is :- When you multiply a whole number by a fraction, the product will be a fraction. Now that's done..... you should know that, you shouldn't rely on the net for such stuff as you might get different questions ;)
