Isn't it hypocritical to protect the environment?
-
When you actually stop and think about it, no matter how much paper we can save by using kindles or how much petroleum we can save by finding alternative sources of energy, we are still damaging the environment by our very existence. If we really cared about the environment, we would make the ultimate sacrifice and wipe ourselves from existence. As time goes by, we are consuming more and more of the Earth's resources and soon, our numbers will be so great that species will go extinct by our very presence. Ironic, isn't it? By helping the environment, we are allowing for the survival of more of us, and therefore expending more natural resources like plants, animals, etc until one day, whether it be 500 years from now or 1000, there will be nothing left. Perhaps we will develop the technology to live on another planet. In fact, that's probably the only solution to this problem. So instead of wasting so much effort on "protecting the environment," we should be allocating all the world's human workforces to developing the technology to inhabit other planets and thus reduce our impact on Earth to a manageable level. This is just my opinion. What are your thoughts on this?

Answer:
I think the more we try and "save the planet" the more we destroy it, such as driving to the recycle plant to take our rubbish, making energy saving light bulbs that can not be recycled, plastic bottles instead of glass, bottled water, i could go on and on, lets just enjoy the time that we do have and be sensible, the plant is not going to last for ever what ever we do.

Reduce the population to 1/5th of what it is now and the environment will be perfectly manageable. You can start to achieve this with yourself. We've only been doing what every creature has done when they've grown unchecked, this happens with the locusts, the bamboo rats and the rabbits in Australia. It's simply how nature works, we'll deplete the resources available, we'll die off to a sustainable level or to extinction and nature will begin again. It will take human intelligence and wisdom on our part to avoid the suffering that comes from this pattern and unfortunately that's something we have yet to demonstrate to any degree.
