What is the best type of guitar pick?

What pick ups do you suggest I get for a strat type guitar?

• For a school project I plan to Fix up an old guitar It's not a Fender but it is a basic strat shape, I want to have a single coil mid and neck pick up and a hum-bucker for the bridge pick up (this is what was on the guitar originally so I don't believe there will be any routing involved) is there any affordable reasonable sounding pick ups that you can suggest.   Hello there, If you has said what your budget is for pickups and what type of tone you are looking to get, would have helped us to make suggestions. A lot of different possibilities. A good pickup configuration, like what is used in the Lone Star Strat, has Fender Texas Specials at the neck and mid positions and a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates at the bridge. I really like that configuration. Hot and bluesy. A less expensive, but similiar sound would come from a pair of Fender Tex Mex pickups and a Fender Tex Mex humbucker at the bridge. If you want high gain pickups, consider putting a pair of DiMarizo single coils in with a DiMarizo X2N at the bridge. A good sounding basic arrangement would be to get the pickups from a Fender MIM Fat Strat. Those would be stock MIM single coils with a Fender humbucker for the bridge. This would be the least expensive configuration of those I have mentioned. Your budget may eliminate many of those options. You can easily spend $75 to $100 on each pickup, For a project guitar, you may be looking for a configuration that costs less than $50 for the entire set.
