How can I get a bump out of a vinyl record?

• (posting in Rock & Pop because I think most of us vinyl people hang out here) At the Salvation Army today I found a vinyl record of Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus by Spirit for $0.49 and I was so excited that I forgot to actually look at the record. But looking at it now, it has a bump in it about the width of a golf ball, not as tall though. It seems like maybe if I held the area over a flame so that it was just malleable enough, I could push it in. Would this work? Will it affect the sound quality?

  That's a shame. The best way to get it out is with a hair dryer and 2 pieces of cardboard. Take one piece of cardboard and put it on a flat hard surface, then heat up the record where the warp is. Quickly take the other piece of cardboard and smash down the warp. The record will never sound like new, but it will be playable if you do it right
