How long should an eye infection last or take too heal?

How long will it take for irritated eye to heal?

  I'd say 24 hours. If its longer than that then go to the optician. Know what you've done - its easy to do when you are new to lenses and indeed you can do it even when you are experienced. I've done mine trying to take out contacts with numb hands ( not a good plan). Hurts like anything but it'll be fine in 24 hours if not sooner.
